The Prisoner Gets A Further Dusting Down!
This edition is the result of 25 years spent working on the book. The original handwritten manuscript of the book grew out of all proportion, so much so that as a single entity it was quite unpublishable. It was a question of avenues you see; I travelled along so many in my research, avenues which branched off along several other avenues until I became completely lost! I stopped writing and cut and edited the original manuscript down to size, the result, the first edition of 'The Prisoner – Dusted Down,’ a book like no other published on the subject of ‘the Prisoner’, I had achieved my goal, to which readers of the first edition can testify.
When given a second chance by my publisher it meant the work could be completed, and built on the success of the first edition. Rather than raking over old ground, although it does disturb the soil now and again, the book approaches each episode with a unique mindset, bringing fresh theories, ideas, and some probable and plausible answers to questions. The trouble with answers is, they are reactive, responding directly to a specific query. So with new, fresh information, that has been drawn in from far and wide, the idea is to inform the reader as well. To inform is broader, deeper, and often structured. You might say: “Questions are a burden to others, information is a gift to oneself.” This leads the reader to some astonishing surprises, as 90 years ago a precident was set for one particular episode in the series. And then there is the Wyatt Earp connection, while uncovering a little more about the early life of Patrick McGoohan.
‘Dusted Down,’ creates fresh viewpoints and perspectives. This volume will not question everything, it cannot provide all the answers, but it does push the boundaries of appreciation of ‘the Prisoner!’ As for the manuscript itself, it will be in the hands of the publisher Quoit Media Limited, early in the New Year, and published …well as soon as I am given a date for publication I will pass that information on…….so watch this space
