No.6 A Plant?

   When I first ever watched ‘Hammer Into Anvil’ I thought this Number 2 had got it right, that Number 6 was a plant. Twice he went running back to his so called ex-colleagues in order to make his report. It wouldn’t be the first time he had infiltrated a place such as The Village, as happened in Colony Three in the guise of Robert Fuller. That was the time he successfully, infiltrated a typical English town of Hamden New Town, but somewhere behind the Iron Curtain on the Steppes of Russia. It turned out to be a training school for spies in the Danger Man episode. However then there was a British agent working in Sekcja 1 {Section 1} who helped get Drake out of Hamden. But this time there is no such person to help get Number 6 out of The Village!

    Number 113 “I hope we haven’t caught you at a bad moment Number Two.”
    Number 2 “There couldn’t be a worse one!”

    "You look really down in the dumps!"
    Number 113b “Smile!” {click goes the camera}
    “Oh well at least no-one died this time.”
    “What?”
   “When the General was destroyed…….”
    “The General, who's the General?”
    “Ah, but that hasn’t happened yet, but I think it was supposed to have.”
    “I don’t know what you are talking about. Clear off!”
    “Well look at it this way, at least they have faith enough in you to give you a second term in office.”
    “A second term?”
    “Mind you, wasn’t there some question of you being fit for another term?”
    “If you don’t mind, I think I’d like to be alone.”
    “Come along Number One one-three b, I think we’re intruding. Mind you Number Six looks smug enough, don’t you think?”
    The two men leave the laboratory by the pair of steel doors.
    Number 113 “Think I’ll be able to get a photograph of the Professor?”
    “Don’t see why not, and his wife, if she’s obliging enough. You might get a picture of her in the garden.”  
    “Here.”
    “What?”
    “Who is the General?”

A Favourite Scene In Dance of The Dead

   “Are you alright, you tried to go in…..by mistake? Its fussy about who it lets in…………. this is the Town Hall.”

   I bet Number 6 wasn’t expecting that, to be hit by an electronic force field! But then why should he, after all he had been in the Town Hall before. Unless of course ‘Dance of The Dead’ was to precede ‘Free For All,’ then it would have been right, Number 6 would not have known that this is the Town Hall, not having been in it before. However had ‘Free For All been preceded by ‘Dance of The Dead’ then there would have been no need for Number 6 to go to the Town Hall in order to witness the disillusionment of the out-going Council, because there would not have been an election. The fact that the Village political system has no opposition! In the first place, Number 2 is appointed, not elected by the people, and in the second place Number 6 knew that this is the Town Hall, Number 2 told him so during his aerial tour of The Village on the day of his arrival. But perhaps he had forgotten, after all there had been a great deal for him to take in that morning!
