Pawn Or Player?

Madam Professor {Pictured here} and her husband are played off against each other, used as a form of indemnity, the one providing insurance against the other.
Madam Professor believes whole-heartedly in her husband, as he believes in the educational experiment of Speedlearn, along with the General. She is a warm, sympathetic woman. She would talk her husband into anything to help keep him alive....such is the course of true love. Yet, Madam Professor in protecting the Professor from too much harm, is in effect, aiding and abetting the Village's Administration, but against her conscience. She is in constant fear for her husbands safety, sanity, and his very life. So No.6's sketch of Madam Professor as a General, must have been deeply offensive to her.
With the death of her husband, Madam Professor, would have not only been left a widow, but would remain a Prisoner of the Village, for as long as she lived.
One can only speculate as to what happened to this poor woman, who once lied about being perfectly happy in the Village. Whether or not she fitted in after her period of grieving. No doubt she would have had to give up that large house to which she and the Professor had been highly privilaged to live in. Perhaps Madam Professor would have been encouraged to carry on with her art seminars, to keep her busy, if for nothing else.    Be seeing you
