Thought For The Day

In Many Happy Returns the Prisoner returns to his London home, but he has no key, so he camly knocks on the front door, but who did he think would be there to answer his knock, the Butler? If no-one had opened the front door what then? Perhaps the Prisoner would have attempted a spot of house breaking!
But thankfully it was all contrived, prearranged. yet the Prisoner was still unsure of his surroundings, I suppose life in the Village has its effect on one. Left alone in the study for a while, the Prisoner picks up the receiver of the telepone and listens to its reassuring dialling tone - why didn't he call his fiancee Janet Portland I wonder? Or go to Sir Chalres Portland, his former boss, rather than Thorpe and the Colonel? Probably because Sir Charles and his daughter Janet Portland have not yet been contrived into the plot!

  1. I mis-read Portland as "Poundland". Sir Charles Poundland ... the economy pack.

    Be seeing you

  2. Hello ZM72,

That's a very Prisoneresque name you have there, code obviously, but I like it, I like it.

Sir Charles Poundland, I was in one of his shops only yesterday as a matter of fact!

    Regards
