Pictorial Prisoner

It wouild seem that all kinds of people are brought to the Village. Take this chap in the dove grey cap pushing the Penny Farthing bicycle. To my eyes he's giving a salute, possibly a NAZI salute!
The only problem is, I cannot get a picture mid-salute so to speak, as citizens pass between the camera and the subject at that vital moment.
It is also curious to see how the Election Parade was edited together. Because these two images are taken seconds after the election parade begins at Battery Square. However, the distinctive blue and white striped canvas tent clearly shows the two images are from when the people are parading around the pool and fountain of the central Piazza!

Be seeing you

  1. Looks like I will have to check myself. Judging by this particular image alone I wouldn't call it a Nazi or Hitler salute. But you never know what kind of people they hired, what was on their minds as extras.

The gesture of raising the hand almost behind one's neck, palm to the front, wasn't invented by the Nazis, it's an or: the ancient Roman salute. The same applies to the variant with the arm streched out completely which was adopted from Italian's leader Mussolini who, in turn, borrowed it from the Romans. - Have a look: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nazi_salute - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,

It's a pity we cannot see the full salute, so to confirm or deny. I always enjoy your comments, and through your latest comment, I've learned something.

      Very kind regards
