The Irony Of One!

"The irony being, that the door to the Prisoner' house says number one. Which is kind of interesting, as he spends the whole series trying to meet No.1." Well that's according to Tony Sloman, who was the film librarian on 'the Prisoner' who said this in a commentary on 'Arrival.'
Well I suppose it is somewhat ironic, but I wouldn't say that the Prisoner spends the whole series trying to meet Number One. He asks who Number One is during the opening sequence to each episode, well almost every episode, as there is a small number of exceptions. He once asked a new Number Two to get Number One, he once asked Number Eight who is Number One? And had forced Number Two to report himself to Number One, and tells Number Two that Number One's the boss. The Prisoner does eventually get to meet Number One, face to face, but that's about it. Everything else is about escape, survival, retaining his identity and individuality, vengeance, justice, amongst other things. Yes the Prisoner wants to know who Number One is, but that comes a poor second to his desire to escape!
Be seeing you
