Caught On Camera!

    “Switch off, switch off!”

That was a close one! I suppose the interrogation of Number 8, in attempting to discover what was in her mind, whether she was attempting suicide, had to be so realistic. If Number 2 here had not acted so quickly Number 8 would have been done to crisp!
Nadia Rakovsky is definately a top field agent because she’s certainly being put through the ringer. First being half drowned and half suffocated by the Guardian, and now put in danger of being electrocuted. And all for Number 6’s benefit. Nadia certainly put her faith in Number 2, but if Number 2 had timed it wrong, it would have been curtains for him. And no doubt some embarrassing questions would have been asked!

Living In Harmony

That’s what the Committee wanted in the previous episode, the citizens of The Village Living In Harmony. Well as it happens some of them were physically doing that. As the American Frontier town of Harmony is part of The Village. But just like The Village isn’t Number 6’s cup of tea, Harmony isn’t the stranger’s kind of town, the townspeople can keep it as far as he’s concerned! But there’s no leaving Harmony, there’s only one road out of town and that’s guarded by the Judge’s boys, and horse flesh in Harmony is expensive, the cheapest horse being $5,000!
I always feel sorry for Cathy having that foul Kid forcing his attentions on her, I enjoy the moment when the Kid’s trying to kiss Cathy and she bites his bottom lip! I think the Kid has been deprived of love all his life, so it’s no wonder he gets a fixation about Cathy. But one can only imagine what Number 22 must have felt as Cathy was strangled to death by the Kid. Then later actually strangled to death by Number 8, or was she? After all she was conscious enough to tell Number 6 she wished it had been real, perhaps she just fainted after that! As for Number 8, he later returns as Number 48 who had been with them, but then he went and gone. Meaning Number 8 was with them, then he went and gone by committing suicide, but later resuscitated in the same way Number 2 was in ‘Fall Out.’ I could be completely wrong about Number 8 and 48 being one and the same person, it’s simply one of my pet theories and shaped to fit.

Bureau of Visual Records

Soon after Number 6 wakes up in a strange apartment the telephone begins to bleep, its Number 2 calling to invite Number 6 to breakfast. During a working breakfast in which time no-one eats anything {you’d think Number 6 would be tucking into those pancakes seeing as he’d been conditioned to eat pancakes on sight} Number 6 12 is briefed about his assignment whilst in The Village. Number 12’s job is to impersonate Number 6, to take away his sense of reality. But that must surely have seemed like déjà vu, seeing as it was the second time Number 2 would have enacted the scene. The first time was with the real Number 12-Curtis soon after his arrival in The Village between 4 and 6 weeks earlier!

60 Second Interview With No.14

    “Good morning.”
    “What do you want?”
    “Just a chat.”
    “What about?”
“You know you bear a striking resemblance to Number Twenty-Two.”
    “Who’s he?”
    “Number Two’s assistant.”
    “But I’m Number Two’s assistant.”
“Of course you are, for what that’s worth!”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Only that you and Number Twenty-Two have more in common than appearance and dress.”
“Look who is this Twenty-two, do I know him?”
“No, but like you he’s not allowed to help with the important things. In fact you and he could actually change episodes, and nothing much would change visually.”
    “You must be mad!”
“In fact I’d go so far as to say that there wouldn’t have been any need for Number Twenty-two if it wasn’t for……. well perhaps its better I don’t say!”
    “You are mad!”
“No I wouldn’t say that, just the Executive Producer!”

Do Not forsake Me Oh My Darling

Who said ZM73 had been reported as having died in an accident at sea? This seems to have been long forgotten by the time this episode comes along. Janet Portland and her father Sir Charles are certainly unaware of any such report, she thinks her fiancé is away somewhere working for her father!
In the previous episode it was made mention of Number 6 keeping himself fit. In this episode we observe Number 6 pacing the floor of his cottage whilst eating a ham sandwich and drinking his tea. The Colonel thought any person spending their time doing that was a rather stupid one. And yet even this activity helps Number 6 burn off the calories. Not as stupid as the Colonel thought!
I wonder what kind of home life Janet would have had, had she married her fiancé with him carrying out the kind of work he did for her father. One can imagine that soon after the wedding Janet would approach her father to try and persuade him to give her husband a nice cosy desk job. But as it is Janet is once again left in the lurch as her fiancé goes disappearing once again. But perhaps this time she knows what’s happened, because presumably after he gave her that message of his he explained what has happened to him, and where he has been. And after her fiancé had disappeared a second time, she would have told her father what ZM73 had explained to her. And perhaps Potter would be able to confirm ZM73’s disappearance, if he had been left behind in that basement of the barber’s shop. But even so, what might Sir Charles Portland be able to do about it?
‘Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling,’ just like The Schizoid Man ZM73 is having trouble proving his identity! But really did they have to find Seltzman, after all they had the Seltzman machine, I wonder how they managed to get that? I’m bound to wonder what exactly is the difference between the process by which Number 6 and the Colonel were put through, to the so called “reversal process?” Personally I would have thought they are exactly the same, what would affect the process in order for it to be otherwise? So really there’s no need to go looking for Seltzman, the scientists in The Village are operating the machine very nicely, and all they have to do to reverse the effect of the mind transference, is to put the same two subjects through the same process a second time. As far as I can see there’s no need to bring Seltzman to The Village at all!

Tonight I Am Mostly Watching THEPRIS6NER – CHECKMATE

The Village is expanding as newcomers arrive. Six asks a woman where they've come from? "We just got off the bus." Six asks where she got on the bus? "The Village" the young woman replies. Six informers her that this is The Village, they've arrived. "Isn't that just the wildest thing?"
More Village means that our way of life is becoming the very conscience of the universe. 2 exaggerates of course, but only slightly.
More Village means The Village is expanding with newcomers arriving by bus. But from where do all the newcomers to The Village come?
“What do you think kids? Isn’t it beautiful? Where do you think the clinic is? That’s where Two will be.”
Six approaches a young woman with her two children who have just got off the bus.
    “Who are you people?”
    “Newcomers” the woman tells him.
“So where have you come from?” Six asks her.
“We just got off the bus.”
“Where did you get on the bus?”
    “Well the Village.”
“No, this is the Village. You've arrived.'”
“'Well isn't that just the wildest thing” the woman laughs.
More Village, as Two informs us, means that the way of life in The Village is becoming the very consciousness of the universe. He exaggerates, but only slightly.
Six isn't at all well. He received an appointment at the Clinic from the postman, who didn't ask Six to sign his number! He appears to be dying, and confronts Two on a building site.
“What’s this?” he asks Two, holding out his Clinic appointment card.
“Is it perhaps your certificate of dying?”
“Why now? You could have killed me a thousand times.”
“I’ve tried every way I know to help you belong, but you still refuse. You choose. This life….or no life.”
   “Assimilate or die.”
“That is the great gift of Village death, clarity of choice.”
The newcomers are good people. Look at them. They choose life. But you…..Six swears he’ll find a way out before he dies. But Two feels sorry for Six, and so gives him the very secret of life…….breathe in…..breathe out…..more Village! Two will watch Six die…one breath at a time, Six. One tick of the clock at a time, tic tic, tic tic!
But Six doesn’t die, he is the answer to the future of The Village. Because as more and more holes open up, The Village being in danger of slipping into oblivion 147 can see that Six is the one, “We want Six, Six is the one. We want Six, Six is the one.” However back in ‘Anvil’ when a schoolgirl, 1,100, has something to say about One, when asked the oldest question in Village history, who is Number 1? She replies “There is no Number One, and there never has been and there never will be. The concept of the number Two is an act of humility. The title reminds us all that we are all pubic servants, even Number Two. No-one is Number One.” So perhaps 1,100 got it wrong, that Six is the first Number 1, seeing as he’s the one. Because Number 1 is the boss, and while Six sits in the sand with 313, dreaming of doing it the right way, to make a good Village. He thinks he could do it. He thinks he has to try, with the help of 313, whatever the cost. 313 sheds a tear because it’s her counterpart, Sarah in
New York who will have to dream The Village. Sarah has mental problems, because she was abused as a child. So is 313 shedding a tear for herself, or for Six, or The Village that is to come? Because his hopes of making a better Village will be dashed because of the mental material he will have to work with in Sarah’s subconscious!
And so another screening of this series comes to an end all too soon. I’m always left with the feeling of wanting more……
.More Village! Well I can always put the DVD discs into the machine again!

 Don't forget, breathe in......breathe out..........more......Village.
