Might be an Island! suggested the Group Captain. Never before had so few words, within the Prisoner been taken quite so literally. Because of what the Group Captain said, many fans have thought the Village to be on an Island. But of course the Prisoner never identified the Village to be on an Island, not in all the time he was captive there.
Footnote: I recall when attending a Prsioner convention at Portmeirion in the early 1990's, how an American fan was disappointed that the Village wasn't on an Island. But when you think of the United Kingdom, the Italianate Village is on an Island! BCNU
