The gentleman in the yellow stockings, with his hand in the 'Free sea' of the pool and fountain, is Clough Williams-Ellis, architect and creator of Portmeirion. But what the devil is he up to here? Whatever it is, cast members and film extras alike find it most interesting, and the chap sat there appears to he holding Clough's watch for him. Well perhaps its not waterproof, as Clough appears to be clearing some small debris from the pool!

Hello David
ReplyDeleteThere were some comments from the crew of The Prisoner that Clough had shown concern for the pools carp after the 'fight' that Rover quells in Arrival.

Hello Mr Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteAh, the fight scene which we witness in 'Arrival' isn't the original fight scene. Originally the fight scene was to have taken place in the original swimming pool opposite the pool and fountain. It is in that pool where the Carp are, and is was due to Clough's concerns for the carp, that the fight scene was moved to the pool we see in 'Arrival.' I don't know if you have been to Portmeirion or not, but the pool in which the fight scene takes place in 'Arrival' is too shallow to support Carp. I have a picture somewhere of the the original fight scene, I'll have to find it, and post in a blog, next time perhaps.
Best Wishes
David
