There was once a man, a man of steel, a man with staunch principles, who resigned his job but wouldn't give the reason for his premature resignation. Hang on a minute! The Prisoner seemed to have a lot to say for himself when handing in his letter of resignation to that baldheaded, be-spectacled man sat behind the desk in the opening sequence. Why don't the Village agents go and speak to him, they might even care to take a look at that resignation letter? Or perhaps they did!
