I wonder how long it would have been, had No.6 decided not to 'play the game' when he woke up one morning in Many Happy Returns to find the Village apparently deserted, by remaining where he was, and not attempt to escape, before someone put in an appearance?
But No.6 is not one to play the waiting game. Not one to hang about when action is required, for No.6 is a man of action, and never one not to take advantage of any given opportunity. Originally in Many Happy Returns, before he eventually put to sea aboard his raft, he was to attempt to escape by helicopter. Having climbed into the cabin of the helicopter, the needle of the fuel gauge registering full, No.6 attempted to start the engine, which it did as the rotor blades began to turn. But then the engine coughed and died. No.6 tapped the fuel gauge and the needle fell back to EMPTY!
