It seems to me that the male doctor No.40 of Dance of the Dead, has much in common with the female doctor-No.22 in Checkmate. They both enjoy carrying out human experimentations upon inmates in the village, and both would like to experiment on No.6, to find his 'breaking point' for one! It did occur to me that both No.40 and No.22 might be the male and female counterpart of each other.
