60 Second Interview With Number 8

No.113: “A little while ago, No.8 was the white Queen, you’re new here and you’re one of them!”
No.8: “I must say I don’t think I care much for your attitude.”
“Like the "put you down" attitude Number Two-the heir presumptive towards you when describing the way in which, and I quote "An efficient prognosis programming must include a quantum permutation of the cause and effect of all supplementary elements."
    “Well what’s wrong with that?”
“A bit too clever for your own good really. Especially when Number Two-the heir presumptive found a much simpler way in putting it, and I quote again "In other words, the computer calculated the old woman’s behaviour would change the behaviour pattern of Number Six." didn’t like his put down at all - did you?”
    “Well, he’s Number Two”

“He wasn’t at the time, simply the heir presumptive.”
“He was an interim Number Two at the time.”
“While the other Number Two was on leave.
“On leave? He was having a high old time of it, wouldn’t you say?”
“Perhaps. It’s not up to me to judge.”
“It might have been better to say that No.2 had been brought back for a second term of office. Have you ever known any previous No.2 to be allowed to leave the village, to "go on leave" in this way?”
    “ No, neither have I.”
“You’re quite the "business type" of woman aren’t you.”
    “What makes you say that?”
“Your demeanour, the way you dress. Somehow you put me in mind of someone.”
    “Who?”
“No.9. She dressed like you. Colourful top, slacks, sensible shoes. Colourful striped cape, and she wore a Trilby hat, just like you. Although hers was red and not blue.”
    “It’s a uniform.”
    “Is it?”
    “Yes, I just told you.”
“Well thank you No.8. Oh by any chance you should carry out a "daily prognosis report" on me any time, you’ll find me at the cafe each Tuesday at 3pm. I could buy you a coffee if you like.”
    “I don’t like!”
    “Well tea and toast then!”
    “I’m busy on Tuesdays!”
“Is that according you your own "daily prognosis report?”
    “No. My diary!”

    1. Hello Arthur,

Number one-one-three what the bloody hell were you doing! Report to my study in the morning break!

Thank you for pointing that out. What a mistake to make, and one that has now been corrected.

      Kind Regards
      David
