This is White Horses cottage, which is positioned some little way outside of Portmeirion, as you walk along the path from the main hotel. Why white horses? Well the tide is out at the present, but when the tide is in, and the waters choppy, then you see why.
This self-catering cottage is closed during the winter months, as it tends to flood at high tide, and can be rather cold, due to the fact that it's constructed out of stone. And is the cottage where Patrick McGoohan and his family stayed in September 1966 while filming 'the Prisoner.'
Next door is the Camera Obscura, from which you can observe all around the Village without yourself being observed by others. The only give away, is the star perched on top of the Camera Obscura, which rotates when you operate the mechanism inside, images projected onto a round table via a number of lenses. However it's not one hundred percent foolproof, because it's a dead giveaway to those being observed, when they see the yellow star turning this way and that!
