The final scene when Number 6 pays a call on Number 2, because Number 2 has turned everyone in the Village, who he might have trusted, against him! Number 2 barks at Number 6 "You didn't fool me!" The trouble is Number 2, he did. Poor old Number 2, he got it completely wrong, and was clinging to the Penny Farthing bicycle for comfort.
I have often wonderd what happened to this particular Number 2. I have thought of him as not having been able to leave the Village, but taken to the hospital having suffered a nervous breakdown, and spending quite a good deal of time on the psychiatric wing!
