{No.2 – Hammer Into Anvil}
Poor old chap, by
this time he had completely lost the plot! He asked the physiatrist if Number 6
was mad, due to the fact that he telephoned the Head of Psychiatrics asking
about his report on Number 2. Of course there was no such report, and Number 6
didn’t see the psychiatrist later on. But it makes one wonder, that due to
Number 2’s mental instability during the interview, if the doctor did open a
report on Number 2’s mental state. All Number 249 did was to suggest he ask
Number 6, and Number 2 flew off the handle. “Would you like to sit in this
chair?” and “Don’t tell me what to do!” he yelled. Judging by Number 2’s
reaction to the possibility of a report on his mental state being carried out,
he sees the very idea of a mental problem as being something of a stigma. More
than that it makes one wonder how this Number 2 was appointed to the position
in the first place. Mind you, perhaps Number 2 would have fared better against
a lesser man than Number 6!
Be seeing you
