    Number 2 said “I don’t mind telling you we had to pull every string we could to get you {Curtis} seconded back to us.” I take it that means seconded back to The Village. Perhaps Curtis is one of those people who had been brought to The Village, turned, then released to carry on his work, but being in the pay of those behind The Village. Presumably that was long before the current Number 6 had been brought to The Village. Back then of course they could not have known what a valuable property they had in Curtis. Not until someone had come up with the idea of having someone impersonate Number 6, using a perfect double to take away Number 6’s sense of reality. Hence Curtis being seconded back to The Village, in the same way as both the Colonel and Fotheringay for example.
