Quote For The day

    “Hello. Enjoy your chess yesterday?”
    “Don’t tell me you care?”
    “Well of course. We want you to be happy.”
    “Fine, just err give me a one-way ticket home?”
    “Won’t you ever give up?”
    “What do you think?”
                               {Number 2 and Number 6 - Checkmate}
    The Colonel said he’s an old, old friend who never gives up. But as it happens ‘Checkmate’ is the last episode to afford Number 6 an escape attempt. He does manage to leave The Village in ‘Do Not Forsake Me Oh my Darling.’ Well perhaps not so much in himself having left The Village, but having been returned there on purpose. It might be thought that Number 6 could have gone anywhere after waking up back in his home. But really could he, even after realising what had been done to him? What future for the mind of one man in another man’s body? As we know, no opportunity presented itself for escape again, not until the advent of ‘Fall Out.’ And even then………
    Number 6 once said of Number 2, that he has a delicate sense of humour. The same might be said of Number 6, “Fine, just err give me a one-way ticket home?” That’s as good as “I’d like to be the first man on the Moon,” and neither of which was ever likely to happen. And that time Number 2 told Number 6 that the new arrival had been sent to The Village for recuperation. “How much are you charging her?” he quipped. There is humour to be found in The Village, even Number 6 could find it. It may be supposed that a sense of humour would be needed living in The Village, Number 2 {Leo McKern} was laughing many a time. Not that many of the inmates found it nearly half so amusing!

Be seeing you
