How is the doctor, who conducts the Prisoner’s medical in ‘Arrival,’ able to decipher a computer print-out card just by looking at it?

  1. 1. Perhaps this was done only in order to give No. 6 a notion of what the capabilities were in the Village. 2. Unless the doctor was an avatar, a physical extension of that computer (one can never be sure), there may have been a certain pattern, the way the holes on the punch card were arranged, which would simply signalise "OK". Nothing else. If any medical problem occurred there would be a different pattern so the doctor would have to do more in-depth examinations. - BCNU!

    1. Maybe like with those cards which are sometimes used to easily check multiple choice tests? If the right parts of the print-out card are perforated, everythings fine, otherwise you're wrong.

    2. Hello Arno and Jana,
Two imaginative comments. The doctor, more then a cog, but an extension of the machine, I like that, science fiction enters 'the Prisoner!'
And I think there maybe something in the idea of "mulitple choice test cards," so therefore you may be right!

Very best regards to you both
