Prismatic Reflection

This will go against the grain with many fans of 'the Prisoner,' but what if his resignation was faked? What if Number 2 of 'Hammer Into Anvil' actually got it right, that Number 6 was a plant in the Village, sent to spy on them. To test their methods, security and the like, and then to report back? And further, to find out where people have been disappearing to, those abducted, and recruited to the Village, Chambers who is late of the Foreign Office, and Cobb and the Rook who engineered and developed an electronic defence system for example. And if possible to bring the Village down! Well it wouldn't be the first time, John Drake infiltrated a Village somewhere behind the iron Curtain 'Colony Three,' in the guise of John Kieron. Nadia Rakovsky was a plant brought to the Village, and assigned to Number 6. The body of the man found on the sea shore by Number 6 in 'Dance of the Dead. Was he a plant sent to the Village? He did have a radio in his pocket, how did he manage to smuggle a radio into the Village without help on the inside?
You will recall how in 'Many Happy Returns' the Prisoner was given the opportunity to escape the Village, but not before taking photographic evidence of the Village. He kept a log of his voayge, and as soon as he could, the Prisoner went back to his superior, the Colonel, to make his report on the Village. More than that, the Prisoner seemed to be keeping a promise he made to Number 2 during 'The Chimes of Big Ben,' "I'm going to escape and come back. Come back, wipe this place off the face of the Earth. Obliterate it, and Number 2 with it!" Was that Gloster Meteor jet aircraft armed?
If the Prisoner was a plant, that would explain why he decided not to lead the Village, but instead to lead a revolt in an attempt to bring it down from within, James Bond or even John Drake style you might say. And as an agent he came out of it very well, a millionaire in fact. And then once back in London, the former Number 6 didn't go into his house, he went straight back to his superiors again to make his report on the recently evacuated Village!

I'll be seeing you
