The night
club the Cat and Mouse is aptly named when one considers the cat and mouse game
which takes place between Number 58 {Number 2} and Number 6. Strange how we
have never seen the Cat and Mouse before, seeing as it’s slightly opposite from
Number 6’s cottage. What’s more we never see it again!
The interior of the Cat and Mouse night club is on the design of a
Jazz club, only there’s no live music, the music is piped in through black
speakers. Although an automatic drum kit does play. Only non-alcoholic drinks
are served, so prisoners who feel Village life is getting them down cannot even
get drunk to numb the pain! There is a woman who goes about the club carrying a
bowl, from which vapour issues forth. Is that simply incense burning, or is it
a more intoxicating substance? If it was, that might account for Number 6’s apparent
inebriated state, but seemingly no-one else seemed to be affected by it! So the
inebriated state of Number 6, might be an after effect of the drugs and mind
conditioning used against him. Otherwise how are we to account for it, if we are to account for it. After all Number
6 couldn’t get tiddly in the Cat and Mouse, perhaps he was acting his state of drunkenness.
If so, for whose benefit?
Be seeing you
I love the little tidbits on The Prisoner that you come up with. Sometimes, the little bits are the most fun.
