And neither will we, seeing as the other guy’s wearing a
different coloured blazer! And its not everyone who is forced to wear a badge,
it began with the butler, who wasn’t wearing a badge and no Number 2 ever
commented on that nor ever made him wear a badge. Then it was the doctor who
carried out the prisoner’s medical, although it’s possible the pin broke and
the badge fell off his white coat. He might have been wearing it under his
coat, or simply forgot to pin it on, which seems most likely. We skip a couple
of episodes to Numbers 113b and 113c, one the photographer and the other the
dispenser of The Tally Ho in ‘Free for All,’ neither of whom wore a badge. And
in ‘The General’ neither did the Professor and Madam Professor, but in
their case, seeing as they hardly ever went out into The Village, it hardly
mattered whether they wore badges or not, or indeed Village attire!
