Quote For The Day

    "Report to the General? That's a new one!"
                                     {No.2 - The Schizoid man}

   It would be if the General No.2 refers to is the same General in the following episode 'The General.' And that is one of the many myths about 'the Prisoner,' conjoured up by some fans of 'the Prisoner.' And I openly admit that I was one of them. But really it's more likely to be pure coincidence, and that the General mentioned by No.2 in 'The Schizoid Man' is more likely to reside somewhere outside of the Village.

  1. I've always had some, well, call it difficulties with that line, No. 2 saying: "Report to the General? That's a new one!"
    Is it perhaps because it could be taken to mean either: "There's a new General (silently adding: don't you know?)." or: "The General. That's a good/new idea!"? And then, not by coincidence, No. 6 hastily responds: "Well I don't mean report to him personally. For Pete's sake..." He notices he's made a mistake, said something he shouldn't have said. Or is it only because I'm German?
    So, I also think it isn't the General from "The General" episode, rather some level of authority, perhaps a physical person, perhaps a whole administration. Anyway, it kicks off No. 2's suspicion. - BCNU!

    1. Hello Arno,

      No it's not because you are German Arno. No.6 has realised he's made a mistake, said something he shouldn't have, and does try to bluff his way through, and rather over does it, and in being too defensive he draws suspicion on himself.

      When I here No.2 say "Report to the General" my mind always turns to that General in the 'Danger Man' episode 'The Black Book,' General Carteret, who tries to use John Drake for his own ends. I'm not saying that the General made mention by No.2 is a character from 'Danger Man,' only that my mind made the mental link that there are not only "Colonels" working within British Intelligence!

      Very kind regards
