We catch up with No.6 on day 7 of the Worlds Endurance Raft Race, somewhere out at sea, making up his log.
It was shortly after this that No.6 almost fell asleep at the helm.
But No.6 is a resourceful fellow, and he was able to snap himself out of it, and here he is on day 18, again making up his log.
But certainly tiredness and exhaustion are forever at No.6's shoulder, as sleeping only 4 hours out of each twenty-four take it's toll on him. And each time No.6 does sleep, and because he has no "drift anchor," he wakes up miles off course!
But eventually even No.6's stamina gives out, and here he has fallen into a state of collapse!
It was soon after this that the crew of the service and safety cruiser had to intervene, after No.6 had managed 25 days, three hours and 22 minutes at sea, which is close to the world record, but sadly for No.6, not close enough.
Back on shore a few days later I caught up with No.6 at the hospital, and asked him how he was feeling. "I'm going to escape, by hook or by crook. They can't hold me here! And once I'm back on my feet again, I'll try something else." Well Number Six cracks me up! One thing can be said of Six, he's always very game for anything! And no doubt he'll be taking on another challenge very soon. We all enjoy Number Six's escapades, don't we ladies and gentlemen.
Be seeing you
