The gypsy encampment scene in 'Many Happy Returns. It's not exactly a powerful scene, it doesn't even take place in the Village. And yet there is something about it, for in this scene the first real act of kindness is shown to the Prisoner since his abduction to the Village, by that of a young gypsy woman. What's more she smiles kindly upon him, before sending him on his way as the Prisoner asks where is there a road? "Don don deron doi doi" she tells him. Although the spelling of that might be a little off, I'm informed that the girl is speaking Romany. Seeing as my Prisoner based blog is read all around the world, I don't suppose anyone reading this can confirm or deny that what the gypsy woman {actressNike Arrrighi} speaks is Romany or not? I should be very grateful to hear from anyone who can say.
