Village Life!

No.118 is something of an excentric artist, for whom No.6 sat to have his portrait painted. When the painting was finished 118 asked No.6 what he thought of it, to which No.6 replies "A perfect likness." I thought No.6 was being sarcastic, but having thought about it just this minute, I'm not so sure that No.118 didn't capture the "Six inside," and that No.6 saw that in the picture. You will recall the aptitude test in 'Arrival,' when the Prisoner had to fit a round peg in a square hole, and the square altered it's shape in order to make the peg fit. Well it would seem that with his piece of abstract art, 118  has inadvertently squared the circle not one, but twice! This is 118's entry into this years Tuner prize!

Be seeing you

  1. I didn't pay attention in particular neither to this episode nor the artistic detail in question until were came across the "squaring the circle" subject of the peg and the square hole in "Arrival". Both scenes can be seen as symbolical or metaphorical attempts at the No. 6 personality. Or else, the individual and society. - BCNU!
