Why?

   Why did Number 6 return to the Professor's house at the end? Possibly not simply to offer a shoulder for the grieving widow to cry on, the offer of comfort. There were no remaining issues at the end of ‘The General,’ except for the Professor and Number 12’s funerals. But then that had nothing to do with Number 6. More probably he returned to the house, to see if there was anything left to be found. Although whatever he might have gone looking for is anyone’s guess. It might be simply that he went to poke his nose around. Or to ask for that bust of him, it really was a very good likeness!
