  1. The penultimate scene looks like it could be the entrance to premises No. 6!

  2. Hello Mister Anonymous,

You are perfectly correct, that's because it is the entrance to No.6's cottage in 'the Prisoner.' But in Portmeirion it was the cabinet makers workshop, before becoming 'the Prisoner shop.'

In 'the Prisoner' episode of 'the General,' No.6 is driven from the beach to his cottage by two guardians, and they drive up to the cottage from the angle seen in the penultimate shot in the video. But as you can see, in Portmeirion such a scene would be impossible to film. That's because the scene in 'the General' is a set of the outside of No.6's cottage, which I am sure you are perfectly aware.

May I ask if you have even been to Portmeirion?

    Regards

  3. Hi David

    Ah! You want information.

Yes. I have been to Portmeirion (one of life's highlights). Took the family under "cover" of a camping holiday in Wales. Greatly increased the fascination with Village detail.

Found your blog only yesterday. Still ploughing through it. Wonderful! Many thanks for assembling such a collection of pics, vids, observations, analysis and thoughts.

    Cheers

    Mike

  4. Hello Mike,

Welcome, and I'm pleased you are enjoying my 'Prisoner' based blog. I'm always very happy to have people's comments, their thoughts and ideas.

I've not been back to Portmeirion for years, yet I have many happy memories of the Italianate Village, for it's own sake as well as for 'the Prisoner.' Then one wet friday morning, the last day of a holiday some years ago, I met someone who would in time become my wife.....such is the effect of Portmeirion having brought us both together.

    Cheers
    David
    Be seeing you.
