You Believe That - You Really Believe That They Would Let Him Go? Forget No.1 for the moment. Would the President and the Delegates of the Assembly have really allowed sir to leave The Village after all the time and effort they had put in to bring him to this point in his ordeal, ‘Fall Out?’ To lead them or go, go anywhere? Somehow it seems mightily improbable that they would. After all No.'s 2 and 48 were already snug in their orbit tubes, and there was a third vacant one just waiting to be occupied.
Not only does No.6 still retain the important knowledge inside his head which No.2 and his Administration had failed to extract, but now it’s worse than that. As No.6 now has intimate knowledge of The Village itself, and that in itself would surely have been enough to seal sir's fate! After all twice when No.6 had spoken with the Colonel he had tried to tell him, to explain about The Village. No.6 could never be allowed to leave the Village, he is Village! Hence the final word seen on the screen as the Prisoner goes to hand in his letter fo resignation PRISONER!
